Sports Betting 101

Sports betting offers a fun way to enjoy your favorite sports, while increasing your odds of winning. But it’s not as easy as it sounds. In order to make the most of your bets, you need to understand the rules and how to make your bets.

There are three main types of bets you can place. These include over/under (total) bets, moneyline bets, and point spreads. Each type of bet has its own house rules.

Over/Under betting is the simplest form of wagering. This means you bet on whether the total number of points scored will be over or under the total of the two teams. If you win, you get the amount you wagered. On the other hand, if you lose, you lose the amount you wagered.

You can also bet on a particular player. For instance, you can bet that a certain running back will have a certain amount of rushing yards in football. Also, you can bet on the total amount of strikeouts a pitcher in baseball has.

If you’re new to sports betting, you might be confused by all of the different bets. Fortunately, there are dedicated resources that provide comprehensive information on the basics.

A lot of sports offer over/under bets. The most popular is the NFL. During the Super Bowl, for example, the Patriots were 2.5-point favorites to beat the Rams. However, they needed to beat them by at least three points in order to win the spread bet.
